(L-R): Nokia 3210 (2024), Nokia 235 4G, Nokia 220 4G have been launched in India, all priced under Rs. 4,000.
HMD, the company behind Nokia’s resurgence, has formally launched the reimagined Nokia 3210 (2024) in India, at a price of Rs. 3,999. It’s inspired by the original Nokia 3210, which was released 25 years ago in 1999, and became a global hit. It was one of the first phones to be marketed to design-conscious young people, with swappable colourful Xpress-On covers, an unusual bulging shape, and no protruding antenna.
This new device has a similar design but is 4G capable and has updated specifications and capabilities, though it is still an entry-level feature phone. It’s available in three colours - Scuba Blue, Grunge Black, and the appropriately named Y2K Gold. In India, the new Nokia 3210 will support UPI payments, and is approved by the National Payments Corporation of India.
This phone will be aimed at those who want a retro experience or who have a nostalgic attachment to the original Nokia 3210. It joins the previously resurrected Nokia classics such as the 3310, 8110, and 8210. HMD also pitches it as a “digital detox” tool for people who want to turn away from social media and incessant notifications.
While specifications are basic, HMD says the Nokia 3210 (2024) is capable of 9.5 hours of talktime with its 1450mAh battery. It has a 2-megapixel rear camera and a flash that can be used as a torch. You also get a Unisoc T107 SoC, 2.4-inch QVGA LCD screen, USB Type-C port for charging as well as a headphone jack, and even Bluetooth 5.0. It features 64MB of RAM and 128GB of storage, with support for up to a 32GB microSD card.
Along with a modern version of Nokia’s iconic Snake game, this phone comes with YouTube and YouTube Music apps, plus it also supports online weather, sports scores, news, and even light games through a Cloud Apps service.
Along with the new Nokia 3210, HMD has also announced its Nokia 235 4G and Nokia 220 4G feature phones, priced at Rs. 3,749 and Rs. 3,249 respectively. They share the same processor, battery, RAM and storage specs as the new Nokia 3210, as well as connectivity features and UPI support. However, both have larger 2.8-inch colour LCD displays. The Nokia 235 4G also has a 2-megapixel rear camera with flash, whereas the Nokia 220 4G only has an LED torch.
