TVS acquired Norton Motorcycles in 2020 for approximately ₹150 crore as part of its strategy to strengthen its global presence.

Ever since being acquired by TVS Motor Company in 2020, the anticipation of Norton Motorcycles is one of the most highly anticipated motorcycle brands in India. In October last year, Sudarshan Venu, Managing Director and CEO, TVS Motor Company, confirmed the launch of Norton Motorcycles in 2026.

The company will kickstart with its new V4 and adventure touring range of motorcycles. The V4 lineup will comprise two models Manx and Manx R. The British brand has now filed patents for the Manx R in India. The patent application dated 16 January 2026 has received approval from the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks.

Norton Manx R V4: What we know

The Manx R is pitched as a high-performance supersport, built around a distinctly race-inspired design. It gets a sharply sculpted fairing, aerodynamic body panels, and a dual-LED headlamp setup that underlines its track-focused character. While the styling aligns with contemporary global supersport cues, it still manages to preserve Norton’s signature design language.

The fully-faired sports bike is built on an aluminium monocoque frame and a single-sided swingarm. Suspension duties are carried out by semi-active Marzocchi setup. The bike will roll on carbon fibre wheels that highlights the focus on lightweight components for superior performance. In terms of features, the Norton Manx R is expected to come equipped with an 8-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity, multiple riding modes, including three standard modes and two track-focused customisable modes, and a bidirectional quick-shifter.

Powering the Norton Manx R is a 1200 cc, liquid-cooled, V4 engine that produces 203.2 bhp at 11,500 rpm and 130 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm. We expect a 6-speed gearbox to carry out transmission duties although the company hasn’t confirmed the same yet.

Norton Launch, Production Plans

Norton or TVS haven’t confirmed any exact launch timeline for the Manx R yet. However, it was earlier revealed that production for the new Norton Motorcycles is set to commence this summer. TVS is also working on a separate distribution strategy for Norton models, as well as for premium models under the TVS brand in India.

Norton’s UK headquarters in Solihull is currently being extensively upgraded in preparation for its upcoming product lineup. The facility is being modernised and expanded to support production of the next generation of flagship motorcycles later this year. The company has invested over £200 million in this effort, while its workforce has grown by roughly 25% since early 2025. TVS plans to retain Norton’s UK base as a global hub for design and manufacturing, even as it introduces select models in international markets, including India.
