London-based consumer tech company Nothing has expanded Google's Circle to Search feature to its smartphone lineup through the Nothing OS 3.0 update. This development comes as part of the company's Android 15-based operating system (OS) rollout.
According to a recent announcement on the Nothing Community blog, the Circle to Search feature is now available on the Nothing Phone 2, Phone 2a, and Phone 2a Plus models.

These devices underwent rigorous testing to ensure compatibility with the feature, which was initially exclusive to Samsung Galaxy S24 series and select Google Pixel devices.
The intuitive search function lets users initiate visual web searches by simply drawing circles or making scribbling gestures around objects displayed on their screen. To activate the feature, users can long-press either the home button or the navigation bar located at the bottom of the display.
The Nothing OS 3.0 update also introduces several features, with the innovative Shared Widgets functionality leading the pack. This unique feature enables users to interact with widgets from other Nothing devices directly from their home screen, currently supporting square-format Photo Widgets with plans for expansion.
The OS now includes a sophisticated Native Gallery application, equipped with advanced search capabilities and comprehensive editing tools. Users benefit from automated suggestions, filters, and markup options, streamlining photo management processes.
Nothing has significantly enhanced the lock screen experience, implementing new customisation options accessible through a long press. The update introduces expanded widget areas and new clock faces, providing users with improved information access.
The system's productivity features have been bolstered by the introduction of AI-powered tools, including the Smart Drawer, which automatically categorises applications for easier access. The Quick Settings menu has undergone a complete redesign, featuring an improved layout and enhanced network and Bluetooth controls.
The camera system has received substantial improvements, including faster widget access and reduced HDR processing times. Portrait mode now features intelligent blur adjustments based on subject size, while low-light performance has been optimised for better results.
Multitasking capabilities have been enhanced through an upgraded pop-up view system, allowing users to resize windows and preview notifications without switching applications. This feature can be accessed through the system settings menu.
