The Ola Roadster X+ is available in two variants differentiated by two battery options, and here’s what is different between them.
Ola Electric has finally entered the electric motorcycle space, a very niche segment in the country with very few players. While the Bengaluru-based EV company will have a few more electric motorcycles in the future, too, as of now, the one that will create the most noise (not literally!) is the Roadster X+. This trim is available in two variants, with the top-spec option featuring one of the biggest batteries in the segment. So here’s what each comes packed with:
Battery And Range
As mentioned above, Ola is offering the Roadster X+ with two battery options. The base-spec Roadster X+ comes with a 4.5 kWh option, which is good for 252 km of certified range (IDC) on a single charge. The top-spec Ola Roadster X+ packs a massive 9.1 kWh battery, which can do a certified range of 501 km on a single charge. Lastly, Ola’s indigenously developed 4680 cells will also debut with this big battery pack, so deliveries for this variant will start later, from next quarter onwards.
Charging Time
With the 4.5 kWh battery pack option, the Ola Roadster X+ is available with a portable 750W charger, which takes 5.9 hours to charge the battery from 0 to 80 per cent. The top-spec Roadster X+ gets a bigger 1 kW charger, which takes 8 hours to charge.
Kerb Weight
With a smaller battery pack, the base-spec Ola Roadster X+ tips the scale at 131.4 kg. On the other hand, with a bigger battery comes additional weight, and the top-spec Ola Roadster X+ is the heaviest electric motorcycle in Ola’s portfolio, tipping the scales at 148.3 kg.
Performance
Both variants of the Roadster X+ is available with an 11 kW electric motor. With a bigger motor comes more power and despite the significant weight difference, both Roadster X+ variants can do the 0-40 kmph dash in just 2.7 seconds. The top speed is also the same for both bikes, which is capped at 125 kmph.
Features And Price
Aside from the above difference, both the Ola Roadster X+ share the same feature list. This includes cruise control, three ride modes – Sport, Eco, and Normal, Reverse mode and OTA updates. Lastly, unlike the Roadster X, the Roadster X+ further distinguishes itself with a disc brake on the front wheel.
As for their price, the Ola Roadster X+ starts from ₹1.05 lakh, while the Roadster X+ with 9.1 kWh battery will set you back by ₹1.55 lakh (both ex-showroom prices, Delhi). However, these are introductory prices and the actual price will be ₹15,000 more expensive.
