Parkopedia and Hyundai AutoEver demo an in-car indoor navigation system, guiding drivers to exact parking spots or EV chargers inside multi-storey car parks using HD maps.

Parkopedia, in partnership with Hyundai AutoEver, has showcased Europe’s first complete in-car navigation service that guides drivers from the road to a specific indoor parking space, EV charger or designated zone without relying on GPS once inside the facility.

The Indoor Maps service uses high-definition 3D point cloud data to provide detailed indoor routing, including walking paths, accessible spaces, payment zones and charger locations. It extends navigation beyond the car park entrance, completing the entire journey inside multi-storey or underground structures.

The system integrates with Parkopedia’s existing EV charging database to direct electric vehicle drivers to available chargers. It is designed to support future features such as Automated Valet Parking and autonomous vehicle operations.

Parkopedia has already mapped 18 of Europe’s 25 busiest airports and continues to expand coverage, with North American deployment beginning in the San Francisco Bay Area. New AI-based tools and automation have been introduced to accelerate the creation of additional indoor maps globally.

The technology will be offered to automakers seeking to provide seamless end-to-end navigation and parking solutions in their vehicles.
