Porsche will globally launch the Cayenne Electric in the fourth quarter of 2025, marking a milestone in the brand's electrification strategy. The new vehicle will be based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), an evolution of the platform developed in-house by Porsche. This architecture uses an 800-volt system that enables charging speeds of up to 400 kW, allowing the vehicle to gain over 300 kilometres of range in just 10 minutes.

The PPE platform, developed jointly by Porsche and Audi, has been engineered to serve larger electric vehicles from the Volkswagen Group's brands. The Cayenne Electric will feature a function-integrated battery with 113 kWh gross energy content, creating space and weight benefits compared to the existing Taycan battery. According to WLTP standards, the vehicle will deliver a range of more than 600 kilometres on a single charge.

The launch of the electric variant comes as the petrol and diesel Cayenne models continue to perform in the market. In 2024, Porsche delivered 102,889 Cayenne units globally, marking an 18 percent increase from 2023 figures. By September 2025, deliveries reached 60,656 units, showing a 22 percent decrease year-over-year, partly due to the transition towards the new electric model.
Since its debut in 2003, the Cayenne has become a performer for Porsche. The model reached one million sales by December 2020, establishing itself as one of the brand's bestselling products. In 2023, the Cayenne sold 87,553 units globally, accounting for 27 percent of the brand's overall sales.
In the United States market, the Cayenne remains a key seller. Through the first nine months of 2025, the model delivered 14,621 units, demonstrating its place as a core product for Porsche Cars North America.
Porsche will offer the Cayenne Electric alongside the petrol and plug-in hybrid versions of the current model, providing customers with choice in powertrain options. The company has stated that the new electric variant will launch in the fourth quarter of 2025. The firm continues to maintain its commitment to electrification, with plans to have more than 80 percent of new deliveries be fully electric by 2030.
