Automaker shifts into new era as Cayenne goes electric, completing 23 years of market dominance
Porsche has introduced the all-electric Cayenne, marking a shift in the company's approach to the SUV segment that accounts for over one-third of its global sales. The new Cayenne Electric and Cayenne Turbo Electric models combine the brand's performance heritage with electric technology, available for order now.

The Cayenne Turbo Electric delivers 1140 bhp of power and 1,500 Nm of torque with Launch Control activated. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 260 kmph. The entry-level Cayenne Electric produces 402 bhp in normal operation, reaching 0-100 kmph in 4.8 seconds with a 230 kmph top speed.

Both models feature a 113 kWh high-voltage battery with double-sided cooling. The standard Cayenne Electric offers a range of 642 km, while the Turbo variant covers 623 km on a single charge, according to WLTP measurements. The vehicles achieve zero direct CO2 emissions and fall into CO2 class A.
The charging system uses 800-volt technology, accepting up to 390 kW of direct current power, with the capacity to reach 400 kW under specific conditions. Charging from 10 to 80 per cent state of charge takes less than 16 minutes. In 10 minutes, drivers can add energy for a range of 325 km in the standard model or 315 km in the Turbo variant. The Cayenne Electric becomes the first Porsche to support inductive charging at up to 11 kW, requiring only parking over a floor plate to initiate the process.

Energy recovery reaches Formula E levels, with up to 600 kW of recuperative power. The electric motors manage approximately 97 per cent of braking operations, with mechanical friction brakes intervening rarely.
Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, stated that the Cayenne Electric represents a new era for the brand. The company reports that 36 per cent of its sports cars sold globally in 2025 are electrified.
The Cayenne has sold over one million units since its introduction in September 2002. In 2024, Porsche delivered 102,889 Cayenne units, an increase of 18 per cent from the previous year, making it the company's best-selling model globally. The model accounts for one-third of Porsche's sales and has generated revenue that funded development of other vehicles within the brand's portfolio.

The SUV's introduction in 2002 marked Porsche's entry into a segment outside its traditional sports car focus. The decision to develop an SUV alongside Volkswagen initially faced criticism from brand enthusiasts but proved to be a financial success for the company.
The new Cayenne measures 4,985 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, and 1,674 mm in height. Wheelbase extends to 3,023 mm, providing 13 cm more rear legroom than the combustion-engined model. Luggage capacity ranges from 781 to 1,588 litres, with an additional 90-litre front compartment. The vehicle maintains a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes.
Design features include a drag coefficient of 0.25, making the Cayenne Electric one of the most aerodynamic SUVs in its segment. The interior incorporates the Porsche Driver Experience system with an OLED Flow Display, a 14.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 14.9-inch optional passenger display.
