At its annual Snapdragon Tech Summit, Qualcomm officially unveiled its latest state-of-the-art mobile platform, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which aims to deliver elite-level performance and intelligence for flagship Android devices.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is Qualcomm's first platform designed specifically for generative AI, enabling seamless on-device experiences like GPT chatbots, stable diffusion for image generation, and more. The upgraded Qualcomm Hexagon processor delivers up to 98% faster AI performance compared to its predecessor.
With its upgraded Qualcomm Kryo CPU, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 delivers up to 30% faster CPU performance and 20% improved power efficiency compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It also features the Qualcomm Adreno GPU, which enables up to 25% faster graphics rendering.
The integrated Qualcomm Spectra Cognitive ISP brings real-time semantic segmentation for photos and videos, dual always-sensing cameras, and generative AI for voice-activated editing. New capabilities like Night Vision video, HDR photos with Dolby Vision, and object removal further enhance capture abilities.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 supports key Snapdragon Elite Gaming features like variable rate shading and Qualcomm Game Super Resolution up to 8K resolution. Hardware-accelerated ray tracing is 40% faster and adds global illumination support. The platform also supports Unreal Engine 5.2 for extremely realistic graphics.
With Snapdragon Sound Technology, users can experience lossless audio over Wi-Fi. Ultra-low 48ms latency delivers lag-free audio ideal for gaming.
The integrated Snapdragon X75 5G modem offers peak 10Gbps 5G speeds with more efficient AI processing at the hardware level. It also features the FastConnect 7800 system for the fastest Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth connectivity.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will power the latest Android flagships from top OEMs, including OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo, and more, in the coming weeks. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, with its extreme power efficiency, performance, and on-device intelligence, aims to deliver transformative experiences across photography, gaming, connectivity, and AI.
