Range Rover has launched a new special edition for India called the Masāra, and it’s priced at ₹4.99 crore (ex-showroom, India). This is the second India-specific special edition for the Range Rover after the Ranthambore edition, and only 12 units will be sold, all of which have already been booked.
The Masāra Edition is based on the Range Rover SV, so it comes as the long-wheelbase version and a whole lot of features to go along with that. But more importantly, the Masāra Edition gets a nice Satin Blue finish with Bronze accents, courtesy of the Serenity theme for the Range Rover SV. The special edition also has 23-inch alloy wheels with a Silver and Bronze finish.
Inside, things get more interesting. The Masāra Edition gets a blue and beige colour scheme. The front seats get a blue finish, while the rear seats get a beige finish. And while the front seatbacks are finished in beige, the rear seatbacks are finished in blue. It also gets a light brown wooden veneer on the centre console and steering wheel. The Masāra Edition also gets ‘1 of 12’ and ‘Masāra Edition’ branding on the door sills. It also gets 4 cushions, which Range Rover likes to call ‘Scatter Cushions’, and two of them are finished in blue and the other two in beige, keeping in line with the contrast of the cabin.
The Masāra Edition is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine churning out 606 bhp and 750 Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. Range Rover says the Masāra name has been inspired by the rare Sapphire gems found in the Himalayas. Masāra means Sapphire in Sanskrit poetry.
