45W charging at this price level will be Realme's main selling point for the Realme 12X
Realme has published some of the specifications of the upcoming Realme 12X smartphone and has confirmed that it will be priced starting below Rs. 12,000. The launch is set for April 2, at 12pm. Specific prices, and even details of how many variants there will be, have not yet been announced. However, images on the company’s teaser page do show at least two colour options: light lilac and military green.
The main selling point of the Realme 12X will be its support for 45W fast charging. Realme claims this is the first phone priced starting below Rs. 12,000 in India to support charging at this speed. The device should be able to go from zero to a 50 percent charge in 30 minutes, as per the company’s own internal tests.
Although the Realme 12X will be based on the same octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ SoC as its predecessor, the Realme 11X, the company has developed a new vapour chamber cooling system which should help it run cooler for longer to avoid thermal throttling. Other specifications include a 6.72-inch full-HD 120Hz display, a 5000mAh battery, a 50-megapixel primary rear camera, and stereo speakers.

The Realme 12X has the same “trendy watch design” as the rest of the Realme 12 series, with a large circular camera island centred on the rear panel. It appears to have flat sides with rounded corners. Images on the teaser also show a 3.5mm audio socket next to the USB Type-C port on the bottom. At 7.69mm, Realme also claims that this will be the slimmest smartphone in its segment. It has an IP54 rating which means it is resistant to minor exposure to dust and liquids.
This is a 5G-capable phone will ship with Android 14. The teaser also mentions “air gestures” and “India’s first dynamic button”, without going into details of how these features can be expected to work. Full specifications and further details will be revealed at the time of launch.
