The Boreal addresses the growing demand for family-oriented vehicles in Latin America, Turkey, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean Basin.
Renault has introduced the Boreal, designed with a focus on high-tech capabilities and an elegant form for international markets. What you are looking at is essentially the 7-seater Duster and we have been waiting for the 5-seater version for a long time. Our exclusive review told you all about the 5-seater version of the Duster, but now the 7-seater Boreal is a core component of Renault's "Renaulution" strategic plan, aiming to pivot from volume-driven sales to value creation. The Boreal's objective is to enhance Renault's sales mix outside of Europe, specifically targeting the C-segment in regions where the brand currently seeks increased market presence.
The new SUV addresses the growing demand for family-oriented vehicles in Latin America. It also functions as a competitive offering in Turkey, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean Basin, areas where SUVs constitute over fifty per cent of vehicle sales. The Renault Boreal is constructed upon the Renault Group's recently developed ultra-flexible modular platform, which first appeared in the Renault Kardian. This platform facilitates diverse body configurations, shortens development cycles, and optimises collaborative efforts in non-European markets. The Boreal can be equipped with new technologies, adaptable to specific market requirements.
Production of the Renault Boreal is scheduled for two distinct locations. The Curitiba facility in Brazil will produce units for seventeen Latin American countries. Concurrently, the Bursa site in Turkey will manufacture the vehicle for fifty-four additional markets, including Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Mediterranean nations. This localized production strategy is implemented to improve logistical efficiency and manage costs.
The deployment of the Renault Boreal is set to commence in Brazil in late 2025. Subsequent launches in other Latin American countries, Turkey, and additional markets are planned for 2026. Ivan Segal, Senior Vice President of Renault International Operations, stated that the Boreal represents Renault's international ambitions, marking a new phase in the brand's premium market progression and strengthening its sales initiatives within the C-segment.
