In all probability, the Bridger will be positioned between the Kiger and the upcoming Duster in Renault’s India lineup.

Renault recently teased the upcoming Bridger Concept which is expected to take shape into its next sub-compact SUV. As seen in the teaser, the boxy, rugged SUV appears to be an alternative to the likes of Maruti Jimny and Mahindra Thar. On the other hand, a certain section of the audience is calling it a “Baby Duster” since Renault has confirmed that it will be positioned below the Duster in the company’s portfolio.

Designed and developed in India, the Renault Bridger Concept will make its global debut tomorrow. Here’s a quick rundown of everything that we know about the Renault Bridger Concept.

Renault Bridger Concept: Expected Design & Interiors

Going by the teaser, the Bridger Concept revealed a boxy silhouette and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, both reminiscent of the Land Rover Defender. However, Renault has confirmed that the upcoming “urban” SUV will measure under 4 metres in length, while still aiming to offer ample interior space. A teaser video also shows illuminated Renault lettering on the fascia, a design element similar to the international-spec Duster.

There is no glimpse of its interiors as of now, but a safe assumption would be that it could carry a similar layout as the Duster. The latter gets a modern cabin but expects the sub-compact SUV to offer a utilitarian feel that matches its exterior. That said, we don’t expect Renault to compromise on features.

Renault Bridger Concept: Expected Powertrain

Renault is unlikely to divulge any mechanical details of the Bridger Concept at the time of its unveiling. However, we expect Renault to employ the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine seen in the Kiger and base variants of the upcoming Duster. This 1.0-litre turbo petrol mill can churn out 99 bhp and 160 Nm (152 Nm with MT) of peak torque. In Kiger, this unit gets two transmission options: a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic.
