The entry-level Renault is expected to get a new lease of life with heavy updates.

Renault India is gearing up to revitalise its most affordable offering, the Kwid, with a comprehensive refresh. The updated 2026 Renault Kwid facelift is officially scheduled for launch in the domestic market on July 3, 2026. This update will inject a wave of cosmetic revisions, essential feature additions, and a better cabin layout into the popular budget hatchback.

The 2026 model is expected to ditch several of its softer, rounded body creases in favour of a flatter, sharper, and more European-inspired sheet-metal design heavily influenced by the Dacia Spring EV (pictured above) sold in international markets. The front profile will retain its recognisable, split-headlamp configuration but introduces distinct, Y-shaped LED daytime running lamps (DRLs) that frame a narrower, updated radiator grille assembly.

Along the side profile, the hatchback will preserve its highly successful, SUV-like stance, high ground clearance, and chunky wheel-arch moldings. However, top-tier variants will likely gain redesigned dual-tone wheel covers or a fresh set of alloy wheels alongside updated black styling accents stamped on the C-pillar. The styling updates will be equally extensive at the rear, where the Kwid could get redesigned, larger tail lamps integrated with matching Y-shaped internal graphics.

The most meaningful transformation takes place inside the cabin, heavily targeting tech-savvy first-time buyers. The Renault Kwid facelift is slated to receive a larger central touchscreen infotainment system, potentially a 10.1-inch display borrowed from newer models in the Renault-Nissan stable, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This setup will be complemented by a new steering wheel layout, a refreshed dashboard panel, and a modern digital driver instrument cluster.

Mechanically, the Kwid facelift will avoid any major changes under the hood to ensure acquisition and maintenance costs remain low. The urban commuter will continue to be driven by its reliable 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces 67 bhp and 91 Nm of peak torque. Buyers will continue to have the choice between a standard five-speed manual transmission and a convenient five-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) unit.
