The price of the Indie electric scooter has increased by ₹ 13,000
The River Indie, initially priced at ₹1.25 lakh when it debuted in February 2023 in Bengaluru, now costs ₹1,38,000, marking a ₹13,000 rise in price. The company had already hinted that the price revision was in store for the second batch of customers and the premium does seem rather steep for a less techy, more utilitarian e-scooter.
There are no changes to the scooter's specifications, hardware, or features. The company also has received approx ₹332 crore investment from Yamaha recently. Read more about it here - Yamaha Invests $ 40 Mn (₹ 332 Cr) in Indian EV Brand River Mobility.
The River Indie has a 4.5kW motor paired with a 4kWh battery. This configuration enables a maximum range of 120km in Eco mode, well-suited for urban commutes. The ‘Rush’ riding mode enables a top speed of 95 kmph.
The River Indie has a long and practical design, featuring twin LED headlights, a roomy floorboard, and a single-piece seat. River has also added foldable footpegs on the side for increased legroom. It has a huge underseat storage that fits a full-size helmet and extra room for groceries. Plus, there's extra storage up front for your phone and more.
The River Indie can now be seen on streets of Bangalore as deliveries have started. The brand plans to explore other cities in 2024. So, with this revised pricing, it will be key to understand how many bookings still get converted.
