Rivian Receives More Than 68,000 Bookings For R2

In just a matter of a few hours, Rivian has received more than 68,000 bookings for the recently revealed R2 SUV. Rivian says the pricing for the R2 is expected to start around $45,000 (roughly ₹37.20 lakh) when it goes on sale in the USA in 2026. 

Robert “RJ” Scaringe, Founder and CEO, Rivian, took to X to share this news and said, “Overwhelmed by the wonderful response to our new vehicles: R2, R3 and R3X. In less than 24 hours, we’ve taken more than 68,000 R2 reservations. We are thrilled to see this vehicle resonate so strongly with our community!”

The booking amount for the Rivian R2 is set at $100 (roughly ₹8,300) and Rivian says it is fully refundable. The marque also said the customers can withdraw their reservation at any time without having the obligation to purchase the vehicle when it goes on sale. 

Despite the small and refundable booking amount, the number of bookings received by the brand shows that there is a decent amount of interest in the more affordable Rivian model. While the R2 is expected to start at $45,000, the R1T and R1S start at $72,000 (roughly ₹59.53 lakh) and $77,000 (roughly ₹63.66 lakh), respectively. The R3 and R3X should have more demand as they will be more affordable.
