Royal Enfield’s latest unveil, the Bear 650, might not look like a radically different bike at first glimpse. After all, it’s the Interceptor 650, but look closer and the rugged purpose of the bike becomes all the more clear. For more details on the bike, check this story. To make matters interesting, Royal Enfield is offering the Bear 650 with the choice of five brand new colour options – Broadwalk White, Petrol Green, Wild Honey, Golden Shadow, and Two Four Nine. Here’s a detailed description of how these different bikes look:
This is the entry-level colour option which gets a the white paint as the base, along with orange and blue streaks. The latter detailiing can be found around the fuel tank, and on the side panel which bears the ‘Bear 650’ badge too. Beyond that, the front mudguard and the rear mudguard are also in white, and orange accents can be found on the rim too.
With this colour combination Royal Enfield has debuted a beautiful shade of green, which has quite the different finish compared to the Emerald shade that is available with the Classic 350. Further amplifying its visual cue are the tomato red graphics, which give a nice sporty touch to the bike. This happens to be my favourite one of the lot.
This bright colour option is characterised by a loud yellow base paint, couped with white and and a deep electric hue streak. The blue graphic treatment can also be found on the side panels, and the “Bear 650” is finished in the same as well. Lastly, the Wild Honey and Boardwalk White are the only two options that get a blue seat as standard. And this colour happens to be Jehan's pick of the lot.
Just like the Wild Honey option, the Golden shadow option also gets a same tri-colour treatment. Over here, the interplay here is between grey, black and a light ash shades. With this option, the Bear 650 gets the nice sinister appeal. Not to forget, this is the only shade that gets a golden-finished USD fork, further amplifying the premium quotient of the bike. This is definitely going to be a big hit amongst Indian buyers.
The Bear 650 came into existence because Royal Enfield paid tribute to one of its first desert race victories in three United States. The rider was a young Eddie Mulder, who rode a white and light green coloured Royal Enfield to victory at the 1960 Bear Run. Hence, this is a tribute to ‘Fast Eddie’ as the bike also bears his racing number on the side plate: 249. And hence, Two Four Nine cookie scheme was born. This is the most premium colour option here, and is the only option here where the frame is colourised in light electric green. As for the body panels, they are painted in a nice sublime off-white shade, and further giving a nice hint of nostalgia is that bespoke “249” badge on the side panel along with a chequered flag-style style graphics.
So, which one of the above will you pick your Bear 650? To know more about the bike check out the walkaround video below:
