It will be the second bike in RE’s line-up to be powered by the brand’s new 450 cc ‘Sherpa’ engine.
After several spy shots, Royal Enfield has finally confirmed that the Guerrilla 450 will launch on July 17. This information was revealed on social media accompanied by a photo, and going by initial impressions, we think the upcoming bike will be quite the looker.
Based on the same platform that already accommodates the current-gen Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, the RE Guerrilla 450 will also equip the new ‘Sherpa 450’ engine, which is the brand’s first liquid-cooled engine with ride-by-wire throttle control.
This engine has already been held in high regard by all for the performance that it brings to the table. And while in the Himalayan 450, this mill is good for 39 bhp/ 40 Nm, Royal Enfield might retain the same output albeit with subtle changes to the final drive to suit the roadster’s characteristic.
The underpinnings of the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 will be similar to the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 but with some cutdowns to keep the cost under check. So, the trellis frame architecture in the roadster here will be suspended by conventional telescopic fork, with the same rear monoshock. Additionally, since it will be a road-biased motorcycle, unlike the Himalayan 450 which rides on 21-/17-inch wheels, the Guerrilla 450 is expected to ride 17-inc/17-inch alloy wheels instead. However, the wheels are shod with dual-purpose tyres with block pattern rubber, which is an indication of sorts that RE might project this bike as a scrambler too.
Beyond that, subtle changes will also be attributed to the hardware and software. Like the seats might be updated for a softer option to suit the roadster’s purpose, but the fully digital single-pod instrument cluster that that we see with the Himalayan 450 will not be available here, instead you'll get the semi-digital unit that we find in the Super Meteor 650. Along with that, the full-LED headlight that debuted with the cruiser too will carry over as it is.
The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 will slot below the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. We expect it to be priced somewhere between ₹2.30-₹2.50 lakh (ex-showroom). For more information about the bike, keep an eye on this space for we will be riding the bike soon in Barcelona, Spain. So, stay tuned.
