The new electric motorcycle will be unveiled in Italy next month.

It’s no secret that Royal Enfield is working on an electric bike. The company had showcased an electric concept which looked very similar to the Himalayan, but it seems the first production electric motorcycle from the iconic brand wouldn’t be an ADV offering. Based on the teaser, the upcoming Royal Enfield electric bike is similar to the patent image that we saw a couple of months back. The styling of the Royal Enfield electric motorcycle is very retro and has typical roadster design elements. While we don’t know the name of the bike yet, it’s likely to be called the Royal Enfield Classic Electric or maybe even the Electra moniker can make a comeback.

However, the teaser pic shows the electric motorcycle being dropped with a parachute attached to it. If you know your Royal Enfield’s, during World War, Royal Enfield Flying Flea were air-dropped in the battlefield. The RE Flying Flea was a 125 cc bike that weighed just 56 kg and had a range of 200-240 km. Maybe the new electric bike from Royal Enfield could be named after it as well. The RE electric bike will make its global debut on November 4th in Milan, Italy and will also be showcased at the 2024 EICMA motorcycle show.

The most unique bit on the patent image is the suspension setup as RE has opted for a girder fork to give it a proper old-school charm. Other design elements such as the single-seat, fuel tank shape and even the mudguards are similar to that of the Flying Flea. The frame is all-new and you can see a pretty large battery pack housed within it indicating the focus on higher range. While details regarding its performance and range still remain under wraps, we expect the Royal Enfield Classic Electric to boast a top speed of above 100 kmph and a real world range close to 200-250 km.

With Royal Enfield entering the fray, the electric motorcycle segment in our country might receive a much-need boost as it’s dominated by scooters. Whether the Royal Enfield Classic Electric manages to strike a chord with RE purists or it manages to attract the attention of new-age buyers is something only time will answer. As for now we are excited to see this new chapter from Royal Enfield unfold next month.
