Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650

The cruiser bike seemed to be tested with new hardware and tech.

A test mule of the Super Meteor 650 was recently spotted in foreign shores, suggesting that Royal Enfield is working on introducing a bunch of updates to the cruiser bike. The test bike looked the same as the current production-spec bike, and it was not powered by the upcoming 750 cc mill because – 1. It boasted the “650” decal on the side panel, and 2. The front wheel was equipped with a single disc brake and not the twin disc brake setup as was spotted on the other 750 cc test bikes.

As for the updates, the test mule of the Super Meteor 650 looked to equip different rear springs. The current rear suspension has been heavily criticised for its low travel, which in turn hampered the ride quality. Additionally, a testing device mounted on the front fork also suggests that the Showa-sourced USD fork will be revised as well. Lastly, the instrument console of the bike looked quite different and it was unlike anything that we have seen on any RE bike so far. Instead of the semi-digital console that is currently available with the SM650, the test mule spotted here boasted a rectangular-sized instrument console. This is a fully digital unit, but not like the ones that we have seen on the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and Guerrilla 450. Hopefully, it will get all the connectivity features that RE already offers with its several bikes.

Since it is powered by the  650 cc, twin-cylinder mill we expect the performance output will remain the same at 46.3 bhp and 52.3 Nm. This will continue until the new 750 cc platform is introduced which in all probability will debut with the new Himalayan 750 that was recently spotted in the Himalayas, followed by the Continental GT and Interceptor.
