Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series will be available in India on January 31, coinciding with the US release date. Pre-orders for the three models will start on January 18 at 10am IST. The pricing strategy is aggressive, with the S24 Ultra starting at Rs. 1,29,999 for the 256GB variant. The 512GB variant is priced at Rs. 1,39,999, and the 1TB variant costs Rs. 1,59,999. The Galaxy S24+ is priced at Rs. 1,09,999 for 512GB though it starts at Rs. 99,999 for the 256GB variant.
The base Galaxy S24 model starts at Rs 79,999 for the 256GB variant. In addition, anyone who pre-books a Galaxy S24 series model on Samsung's website during a live commerce launch event starting at 12pm IST on January 18 will also receive a Wireless Charger Duo worth Rs. 4,999 for free. While all the phones will be available through multiple online and offline partners, the company offers all three models in exclusive colours on its own website. The Galaxy S24 Ultra will be available in Titanium Blue, Titanium Green and Titanium Orange, while the S24 and S24+ get Sapphire Blue and Jade Green options in addition to the ones listed above.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra distinguishes itself with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor. In contrast, the Galaxy S24+ and S24 models available in India are powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 2400 processor. This is the world's first implementation of the Exynos 2400, making its performance comparison with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy a point of keen interest. Although Samsung touts comparable performance between the two, it's worth noting that historically, Exynos processors have faced criticism for overheating and battery life issues.
A highlight of the S24 series is the introduction of Galaxy AI. This term encompasses a variety of on-device generative AI capabilities, developed in collaboration with Google using its Gemini large language models, introduced to the public in December. Gemini Nano powers features such as the Interpreter and Live Translator, while Gemini Pro supports applications like Notes Assist. Importantly, these features work in 13 languages, including Hindi, enhancing their utility in India.
Following in Apple’s footsteps, Samsung has chosen a titanium frame for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This model also features an upgraded display, boasting a brightness of 2600 nits and a 1~120Hz panel. The S24+ and S24 models, sport aluminium chasses with matte finishes and squared-off, geometric lines reminiscent of the iPhone 15. In a significant move, Samsung promises seven years of Android and security updates for all Galaxy S24 models, aligning with the standard set by Google's Pixel 8 series.
