The new One Gen 2 arrives nearly a year after we rode the One Gen 1.5 and packs extensive changes, including revised styling, improved battery and motor performance, and more range as well. The Simple One Gen 2 now promises 265 km (IDC) on a single charge from the 5 kWh battery pack, up from 248 km (IDC) on the predecessor.

Simple One Gen 2: Styling Changes

The new Simple One Gen 2 gets revised styling with an updated front apron and reworked winglet design. The rear shroud has been reworked for a cleaner design. Simple Energy has made changes to the switchgear positioning for easier access, while the charging flap has been redesigned for better fitment. Furthermore, improvements include new rearview mirrors that are sleeker and more aerodynamic, which offer higher rigidity for lower vibrations at high speeds.

Simple One Gen 2: Structural Improvements

Simple says the chassis has been reworked with new structural joints and load parts with 22 per cent improvement for lateral stiffness. This also leads to more predictable handling on the e-scooter. The electric scooter maker has also made improvements to the battery with reinforced crash joints that provide 50 per cent more front impact protection. The battery itself has lost weight, now weighing 129 kg, down from 137 kg on the Gen 1.5 model. This further helps with the overall agility at low speeds, while the gradeability has improved up to 18 degrees. Simple says it’s now using revised tyre compounds for better high-speed stability. The changes now allow the Simple One Gen 2 to sprint from 0-40 kmph in just 2.55 seconds.

Simple One Gen 2: Ergonomics & Range

Other improvements include a 16 mm lower seat, stiffer seat foam, and retuned suspension for better low-speed comfort and high-speed stability. The compression and rebound have been separately tuned to achieve the same. Simple says it now uses a lighter, denser, and more efficient battery pack across all variants. This has translated to more range on each of the battery sizes - 265 km (5 kWh), 236 km (4.5 kWh), and 190 km (3.7 kWh). The batteries continue to be mounted under the floorboard.

Simple One Gen 2: New Feature Stack

Simple has introduced a new BMS for the battery, which is IP-67 resistant. The model gets 35 litres of under-seat storage, while there’s an open glovebox and a USB for added convenience. The touchscreen dash has been carried over but it uses the new Simple OS with a new UI. There are two new riding modes - EcoX and SonicX - while the feature stack also gets four-level traction control, regenerative braking, and range optimisation. Other features include Super hold, speed limiter, incognito mode, crawl mode, forward and reverse mode. There’s built-in navigation and real-time notifications with the One Gen 2.0.

Simple One Gen 2: Colours & Availability

Lastly, the Simple One Gen 2.0 will be available in three new colours - Sonic Red, Aero X Grey, Asphalt X.  The e-scooters are available at over 61 showrooms across Bengaluru, Goa, Pune, Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Vizag, Kochi, Jaipur, Mangalore, and more. Customers can also purchase the electric scooter online through Amazon and Flipkart.

Simple Energy has introduced a lifetime warranty on motor and battery across its vehicle portfolio. Furthermore, the home charger features a 3-year/30,000 km vehicle warranty and 3-year/20,000 km charger warranty. All Simple Energy scooters support home charging via a portable 750W charger.
