The new Simple OneS replaces the Simple Dot One from before, and it slots below the Simple One Gen 1.5.
Simple’s latest launch, the new OneS, is currently the brand’s most affordable offering at ₹1.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). It replaces the Simple Dot One electric scooter from before, and slots below the Simple One Gen 1.5, and here are its key highlights:
The new Simple OneS is powered by the same 3.7 kWh battery pack as in the Simple One Gen 1.5. However, in the latter, it is good for an IDC-certified range of 248 km on a single charge, whereas in the new OneS, it can do 181 km (IDC-claimed) of range on a single charge.
Despite the low range offered here, the Simple OneS continues to be powered by the same 8.5 kW PMS motor, which produces 72 Nm of peak torque. With this motor, the OneS can do the 0-40 kmph dash in just 2.55 seconds and reach a top speed of 105 kmph. To tap this performance effectively, four ride modes are on offer — Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic. The last mode will let you go completely ballistic with all the performance the electric motor has to offer.
Since the Simple OneS is built around the same platform as the first-generation One electric scooter, its basic structural core has remained unchanged. This means the huge practical 35-litres of underseat storage space with an integrated USB charger, remains unchanged.
Similarly, the 7-inch TFT touchscreen has also been carried forward from the much more premium One Gen 1.5 with the same suite of connectivity features. From onboard navigation to over-the-air updates, the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), etc., are all available here. Additionally, Simple has introduced a new Park Assist feature that will be available as standard with the OneS.
Despite sharing so many aspects with the One Gen1.5, the new Simple OneS is still a good ₹27,000 more affordable than the former. This makes it quite the strong value-for-money alternative to the Simple One Gen 1.5, which is otherwise priced at ₹1.66 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). However, with just 15 showrooms all over the country, most of which are located in South India, it won’t enjoy that much popular recognition compared to a Bajaj or a TVS or even Ola – all of which are currently quite widespread in the country.
