Simple Wave vs Ather Konarc: Spec, Features and Price Comparison

India's family electric scooter market sees a head-to-head clash with the launch of the Simple Energy Simple Wave lineup alongside Ather’s Konarc series.

Simple Energy has just entered this practical electric scooter segment with heavy focus on utility and extended range. On the other hand, the Konarc is also barely a few weeks old, bringing a steel unibody chassis and refined urban ergonomics to the table.

Price in India

The Simple Wave carries a starting ex-showroom price of ₹1.10 lakh. Unfortunately, the complete price list was not revealed at launch.

The Ather Konarc’s pricing, too, isn’t fully revealed. The Konarc S range is priced at ₹99,999-1.45 lakh (ex-showroom), but the pricing of the long-range Konarc S and Konarc Z variants are still under cover.

Battery Range & Powertrain

Range and powertrain options form a key battleground between both offerings. The Ather Konarc S comes in three battery variants, 2.1 kWh, 2.7 kWh, and 3.5 kWh, delivering IDC ranges of 100 km, 125 km, and 161 km respectively. Its PMSM motor generates up to 4.7 kW peak power and 16 Nm torque, achieving a top speed of 70 km/h across all variants.

On the other hand, the Simple Energy Simple Wave provides four battery configurations (2.2 kWh, 2.7 kWh, 3.7 kWh, and 5.0 kWh) across three variants (Wave S, Wave, and Wave +). The range-topping Simple Wave + yields an IDC range of 243 km, a 90 km/h top speed, and a 6.4 kW PMSM motor driving 179 Nm of wheel torque via a chain-drive system.

Utility, Storage and Chassis

Practicality highlights a major difference in design philosophy. Simple Energy equips the Simple Wave with a class-leading total storage capacity of up to 70 litres. This is achieved through a 63-litre under-seat compartment, a 3-litre glove box, and a 4-litre auxiliary storage unit called "The Pill".

Ather’s Konarc offers a standard 31-litre under-seat boot. For running gear, Ather incorporates a larger 14-inch front alloy wheel and 12-inch rear wheel pairing with a Silent Gear Drive. Simple Wave relies on 12-inch alloy wheels front and rear, progressive twin rear shocks, 175 mm ground clearance, and 300 mm water-wading capability.

Technology and Features

Both scooters feature extensive digital hardware. Ather Konarc variants come fitted with DeepView displays (4.2-inch on entry, 7-inch on S variants) along with AtherStack Pro options including AutoHold, FallSafe, and Park Assist reverse mode.

Simple Wave offers either a 5-inch EBN display or a 7-inch TFT screen depending on the model, featuring Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, over-the-air updates, traction control, and regenerative braking.
