This upward trend continued in 2024, with exports accounting for 40 per cent of locally produced vehicles, marking a 20 per cent YoY increase.
Since its inception, Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has exported over 675,000 vehicles, showcasing India's growing prominence in global automobile manufacturing. In 2023, the company recorded a significant 38 per cent year-on-year (YoY) growth in exports, with international shipments constituting 30 per cent of its total production. This upward trend continued in 2024, with exports accounting for 40 per cent of locally produced vehicles, marking a 20 per cent YoY increase. The group started its export venture in 2011 with the Volkswagen Vento and currently, it exports Made-in-India cars to 44 countries.
Piyush Arora, Managing Director & CEO of Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited, said, “Over the years, we have demonstrated our capabilities as a key export hub, and we remain dedicated to strengthening India’s role in the global automotive industry. During FY 2023-24 alone, SAVWIPL exported more than 43,000 vehicles to over 26 countries spanning Asia, Africa, and North America. The company's export portfolio includes legacy models like the Volkswagen Vento and Polo, as well as newer models such as the Volkswagen Virtus, Volkswagen Taigun, and Škoda Kushaq. The increasing international demand for these vehicles underscores the company's engineering and manufacturing capabilities.
