The Kushaq gets an off-road-oriented design but is likely to remain a concept only for now.

At the sidelines of the new subcompact SUV announcement, Skoda India also showcased the Kushaq Explorer Edition concept. The compact SUV has been given an off-road-oriented design, much like the Volkswagen Taigun Trail Edition

The Kushaq Explorer Edition is finished in a new matte green paint with contrasting orange accents on the grille, bumpers, side cladding, front skid plates and tow hooks. The Explorer Edition also gets blacked-out alloy wheels shod in off-road-ready tyres and it also gets blacked-out badges.

Other cosmetic updates on the Kushaq Explorer Edition include roof rails and an LED light bar on the roof. Skoda did not reveal the interior of the Kushaq Explorer Edition but it will get a few new features such as a 360-degree camera, head-up display and rear sun blinds. While Skoda does not have plans to put this off-orad-ready version into production, expect these new features to trickle down to the standard variants of the Kushaq

Under the hood of the Kushaq Explorer Edition is the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 148 bhp and 250 Nm, mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Skoda has recently started adding badges on its models to differentiate the 1.0 TSI variants from the 1.5 TSI variants, and hence the Explorer Edition also wears a blacked-out 1.5 TSI on the tailgate.
