Skoda Auto India is getting ready to delight the automotive enthusiasts in India by launching the Octavia RS. The high-performance midsize sedan is expected to launch in India towards the end of the year, ideally in November or December.
The Octavia RS has been available in India at various points in time, and with every generation of Skoda’s midsize sedan. The first gen came with a 1.8-litre turbo-petrol engine, the second-gen also used a 1.8-litre turbo-petrol engine, while the third-gen got a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. Globally, the Octavia RS comes with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 261 bhp and 370 Nm, and it is likely the India-spec model will come with the same engine since it will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU).
The latest RS is based on the facelift of the fourth-gen Octavia, and the pre-facelift model was available in India between 2021 and 2023. The new RS will be the only variant of the Octavia facelift to be available in India, once it goes on sale later this year.
Compared to the pre-facelift model, the Octavia facelift gets a new headlight design, a reworked grille, new alloy wheels, redesigned bumpers and more. For the RS variant, it gets sportier bumpers, larger alloy wheels and a blacked-out treatment. Inside, it comes with sporty seats with red and black upholstery, a three-spoke steering wheel and aluminium pedals. Features include a 13-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10-inch virtual instrument cluster, and a head-up display.
The Octavia RS is expected to be priced upwards of ₹60 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and will see competition from the likes of the Volkswagen Golf GTI.
