The company started Indian operations in February 2006 at its Kherki Daula plant in Gurugram.

Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL), the two-wheeler subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan, on Thursday announced it has manufactured its 10 millionth two-wheeler from its Gurugram production facility, which marks a key manufacturing achievement in the company's two-decade operation in the Indian market. The accomplishment reflects the company's quickened expansion pace. SMIPL required 14 years to achieve its first five million units in 2020, but produced the subsequent five million in merely six years.

The 10 millionth unit, a Suzuki Access Ride Connect Edition, rolled out from the production line this week. The company started Indian operations in February 2006 at its Kherki Daula plant in Gurugram, which possesses an annual production capacity of 1.3 million units.

“Reaching the 10 million production mark is a significant achievement for all of us at SMIPL. This has been made possible by the trust and support of our customers, dealer partners, suppliers, and employees, who have stood with us throughout this journey. By expanding our product portfolio, strengthening manufacturing capabilities and focusing on quality and reliability, we have steadily scaled our operations in India.

"Going ahead, we are further expanding our production capacity, strengthening our sales and service network, and deepening customer experience through engaging activities across the country. True to our promise of standing ‘By Your Side’, we continue to stand ‘By Your Side’ - customers, dealer partners, suppliers, and employees at every stage," Kenichi Umeda, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd.,  said in a statement.

The Suzuki Access 125 has been key to the company's achievements in India. As the country's first mass-market 125cc scooter, the model established and defined the segment whilst becoming SMIPL's best-selling product across three generations.

SMIPL's current range includes multiple categories, including scooters such as the Access, Burgman, and Avenis, alongside motorcycles in the GIXXER series available in 150cc and 250cc segments. The company also provides premium models including the V-Strom SX, GSX-8R, V-Strom 800 DE, and Hayabusa.

The manufacturer is pursuing carbon neutrality through various methods. It recently launched the GIXXER SF 250 Flex Fuel, its first E85 fuel-compliant motorcycle, and has revealed plans to enter the electric two-wheeler segment with the Suzuki e-ACCESS.

SMIPL currently functions through more than 1,200 touchpoints across India and exports its domestically manufactured two-wheelers to over 60 international markets. The company is establishing a second manufacturing facility in Kharkhoda, Haryana, to accommodate future demand and production growth.

To commemorate the milestone, SMIPL is providing customers with a limited-period promotion including zero processing fees on loans or final EMI waivers, along with complimentary 10-point vehicle inspections and discounts on labour charges and accessories at its dealerships.
