This new partnership will also see both working towards delivering a superior charging experience.
Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. (TPEM) has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Shell India Markets Private Limited to establish public charging stations across India. These new charging stations will be set up based on the insights from over 1.4 lakh Tata EVs on Indian roads and the locations they frequent the most.
Both companies will also work to introduce convenient payment systems and loyalty programs at these public charging stations, to deliver a unique and "superior charging experience". Shell Energy already provides fresh food and beverage options across its fuel station network - factors that further enhance customer experience.

Speaking about this newly formed partnership, Balaje Rajan, Chief Strategy Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility and Tata Passenger Vehicles said, “Through this partnership, we aim to grow the existing charging infrastructure, which is crucial for mainstream adoption of EVs in the country, particularly as the customer base continues to expand.”
Tata Motors has been leading the rise of the EV ecosystem in our country and it was also the first to open a one-of-its-kind EV-exclusive store in Gurugram. Currently, it commands 71 per cent of the electric passenger vehicle market share with just four products in its portfolio. With such a diverse and rich portfolio, Shell Energy would benefit to expanding its footprint.
“Shell is committed to define the EV charging experience by offering integrated solutions that prioritize convenience, safety, and sustainability.," said Sanjay Varkey, Director, Shell India Markets Private Limited. "Our strategic partnership with Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd aims to promote the widespread adoption of electric vehicles in the country by leveraging digital integration and customer-centric initiatives.,” he concluded.
