The Curvv will enter the densely populated compact SUV segment and come with three engine options.
Tata Motors has just revealed the new Curvv coupe SUV along with the Curvv.ev. While the latter starts at ₹17.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the prices for the Curvv with the internal combustion engine (ICE) will be announced on September 2.
The Curvv is the brand’s entry into the compact SUV space, where it didn’t have a product for a while. The Curvv will get petrol and diesel engine options with two of the former and of the latter. The 1.2-litre turbo-petrol (Revotron in Tata speak) produces 118 bhp and 170 Nm. The 1.2-litre turbo-petrol direct injection engine (called the Hyperion) churns out 123 bhp and 225 Nm. It will also get a new 1.5-litre diesel engine with 117 bhp and 260 Nm. All the engines will be mated to either a 6-speed manual or the new 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The new coupe SUV will be available with multiple Personas, Tata Motors’ new nomenclature for the trims of its vehicles. The Curvv ICE will be available with four personas – Smart, Pure, Creative and Accomplished.
The Curvv will also get many new features such as a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-speaker system from ADAS, a wireless charger, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, air purifier and more. Safety features on the Curvv will include 6 airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX anchorages, 3-point seatbelts, and level 2 ADAS.
Tata Motors is entering a cut-throat, densely populated compact SUV segment. Once launched, it will rival the upcoming Citroën Basalt as well as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate and Citroën C3 Aircross. Expect the Curvv’s prices to start around the ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom, India) mark.
