The timing of this partnership coincides with India's transition to electric mobility.
Design and technology services provider Tata Elxsi has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with semiconductor giant Infineon Technologies. The collaboration focuses on creating market-ready electric vehicle solutions specifically designed for India's expanding automotive landscape.
The timing of this partnership coincides with India's transition to electric mobility. As per industry data, EV sales surged by 25-30 per cent annually through 2024, with electric two- and three-wheeler segments experiencing particularly robust growth of 28 per cent.
This partnership responds to the increasing demand for sophisticated yet affordable EV technologies in one of the world's fastest-growing automotive markets.
The collaboration combines Tata Elxsi's design and integration capabilities with Infineon's semiconductor expertise to deliver comprehensive EV subsystems. The partnership prioritises the development of automotive-grade components that meet stringent cost optimisation requirements while maintaining superior safety standards.
“Currently, several of our EV solutions are already built on Infineon SoCs and components. This MoU further strengthens our partnership by giving us a clearer scope and tighter system-level alignment, enabling shorter turnaround times to address Indian market requirements. As EV adoption scales, our focus remains on delivering production-ready, automotive standards-compliant platforms and solutions,” Nambi Ganesh, Head of Automotive, Tata Elxsi, said in a statement.
A key focus area includes achieving ASIL-D (Automotive Safety Integrity Level D) certification, the highest safety classification under ISO 26262 standards for Functional Safety of Road Vehicles. This compliance ensures that the jointly developed solutions meet international automotive safety benchmarks.
The strategic alliance aims to streamline the adoption process for EV manufacturers by providing integrated, application-ready subsystems. By combining both companies' technological strengths, the partnership seeks to reduce development timelines and implementation complexities for automotive manufacturers across various mobility segments.
