The new Bajaj motorcycle brand is expected to go on sale before the festive season.
2026 will be the ‘Year of the Pulsars’ according to Bajaj Auto as the brand celebrates 25 years of its most iconic motorcycle marque. While all eyes are on the rumoured 8 new Bajaj Pulsar set to make their debut this year, Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto made another sensational announcement in an interaction. The Bajaj Auto bossman disclosed that the company plans to enter the 125-250 cc segment with an all-new brand by the festive season.
The reasoning behind a new brand in this space according to Rajiv Bajaj is that the 125-250 cc segment is growing at a very good space and Bajaj Auto wants to have a larger market share. It should be noted that Bajaj earlier had the Discover series, which was positioned below the Pulsar brand as a sporty commuter. The Bajaj Discover range did good sales and saw many iterations, but with the Pulsar brand transforming into a more mass-market segment, the Discover series was discontinued.
Details about what the new brand will be called as, but we feel the positioning could be lower than the Pulsar brand similar to the Discover series as it would like to play in the low-cost volume segment. It will be an uphill challenge for Bajaj to make this new upcoming brand work as the past two new names in the motorcycle segment - the Dominar and later the Freedom (CNG bike) failed to make any impact. With the Pulsar range getting a complete overhaul and this new brand between 125-250 cc, Bajaj Auto seems to be getting serious with its motorcycle business as sales have been low domestically, while the EV business with the Chetak series has shown tremendous growth.
