In an exclusive interview with Acko Drive, Shailesh Chandra, MD- TMPVL & TPEML said, “We are currently working on the new engine, but it will definitely come on both the Harrier and Safari. The exact timeline is still not confirmed but expect it to arrive in a year’s time.”
Tata showcased a brand new 1.5-litre GDI petrol engine at the Auto Expo 2023, offering a glimpse of the innovative technology that will power these vehicles. This engine is set to debut not only in the Harrier but also in the company's larger SUV offering, ensuring a compelling driving experience for those who prefer petrol power. This engine is expected to develop 168 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque, coupled to a 6-speed manual and an automatic gearbox. The power figure is similar to the diesel-powered Harrier and Safari.
In addition to these petrol-powered developments, Tata Motors has also confirmed the imminent arrival of the Harrier EV, further elevating its presence in the electric vehicle landscape. While the exact launch window is yet to be unveiled, all signs point to a debut most likely taking place between January and March 2024, promising a compelling choice for eco-conscious consumers and EV enthusiasts alike.
