Tata Motors on Tuesday launched the Intra EV Pickup, an electric light commercial vehicle carrying a starting price of Rs 11.95 lakh (ex-showroom), as the Indian automotive giant looks to extend its electric commercial vehicle range further into the small business and fleet operator market. Built on the existing Intra platform, the pickup is powered by a 72 kW electric motor producing 230 Nm of torque and draws energy from a 28.2 kWh IP67-rated battery pack. Tata Motors quotes a certified range of 211 km on a full charge. The vehicle supports fast charging through a CCS2 charger, with a 10 to 80 per cent top-up taking approximately 55 minutes.
With a payload capacity of 1,750 kg and load body options stretching to 10 feet 2 inches, the Intra EV Pickup is being positioned for use across sectors including e-commerce, cold-chain logistics, dairy distribution and waste management.
“Our commitment to green mobility is focused on delivering sustainable solutions that are proven at scale and relevant to India’s diverse commercial mobility needs. Building on the strong market response to our electric mini‑trucks and the successful deployment of our electric buses serving commuters across 10 cities nationwide, we rolled out our next‑generation electric trucks earlier this year and are now advancing further with the launch of electric pickups.
"Through this progression, Tata Motors has established the country’s most comprehensive electric commercial vehicle portfolio across segments. This momentum is being enabled by progressive Government policies and strong collaboration across customers, partners and suppliers, accelerating India’s transition to cleaner and more sustainable mobility," Girish Wagh, Managing Director & CEO, Tata Motors Ltd., said in a statement.
The vehicle comes with a six-year or two-lakh-kilometre warranty on its high-voltage battery. Safety provisions include an Electronic Braking System and three levels of regenerative braking. Tata Motors Fleet Edge, the company's connected fleet management platform, is fitted as standard, providing real-time tracking and predictive maintenance capabilities.
To ease the path to ownership, Tata Motors is pointing buyers towards a network of more than 25,000 charging points, over 200 dedicated EV service centres and home-charging support. Financing options have been arranged through partnerships with banks and non-banking financial companies, and the vehicle will be sold through the company's existing commercial vehicle dealer network.
The Intra EV Pickup joins the Ace EV 1000 and Ace Pro EV in Tata Motors' small electric commercial vehicle lineup. The company, part of the Tata Group, is India's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, with operations spanning Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.
