This new architecture is slated to underpin five more models that TPEM will launch in the next 18 months.
Tata Passenger Electric Mobility has revealed the Tata Punch.ev in its full glory, but that's not all because, with it, the company has also showcased a brand new platform that is EV-specific, called acti.ev. While the upcoming Punch.ev will be the first model to debut this brand-new platform, the company also revealed that it will spawn its next five products to be launched in the next 18 months.
The modular acti.ev architecture has been designed in a manner so that it can accommodate multiple drivetrain options - front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive and even rea-wheel-drive options. The battery pack in this architecture has also been optimised in a manner that improves its energy density by 10 per cent. The company claims that the new improvements have helped enhance the range from 300-600 km on a single charge, depending on the battery pack.
The new acti.ev architecture is compatible with both AC fast charging and DC fast charging options. With the former, the architecture can support 7.3kW to 11 kW on board charger, and with the latter, it can support up to 150 kW of charging capacity which can charge your vehicle for 100 km of range in just 10 minutes.
Tata Passenger Electric Mobility claims that the acti.ev architecture has been built keeping in mind future GNCAP/ BNCAP protocols. Moreover, the scalable nature of the architecture has also been designed to maximise cabin space and luggage space. In addition to its lower centre of gravity, driving dynamics and handling will also be paramount.
The acti.ev also has higher computational power with ADAS-Level 2 compatibility, and and even ADAS L2+ capabilities as well. Additionally, it will also support Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging technology.
The acti.ev architecture will be available with Tata’s in-car app suite, Arcade.ev as standard which will enhance user experience. It will also support Over-the-Air updates and other features, along with seamless connectivity options with 5G readiness as well.
