Tata Motors will launch its best-selling Nexon in South Africa during Q3 2026 under the localised name ‘Osprey’.
Tata Motors has officially announced the expansion of its international product portfolio with the upcoming launch of the all-new Tata Osprey in South Africa, scheduled for the third quarter of 2026.
Known as the Tata Nexon here in India, this successful subcompact SUV has been renamed specifically for the South African market, drawing inspiration from the versatility and adventurous nature of the local bird of prey.
The Nexon arrives on the international stage backed by considerable market success, having surpassed one million cumulative sales globally and frequently securing the rank of the number-one best-selling passenger vehicle in India over the past few years.

A foundational selling point for the vehicle's global push is its highly rated safety architecture. Engineered as a pioneer in domestic automotive safety, the underlying Nexon platform was the first vehicle developed in India to achieve a full five-star adult occupant protection rating from Global NCAP. The model also carries a top five-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP, India's official institutional vehicle safety assessment system.
The South African-spec Osprey has been optimised to handle the distinct environmental and infrastructure conditions of the local market. While Tata hasn’t yet confirmed what engine options will be available on the South African Nexon, expect them to not be very different from the Indian version.
