Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Motors to establish 200 fast-charging stations for electric commercial vehicles (CVs) across major metropolitan cities. This initiative marks a significant step in both companies' efforts to promote sustainable mobility solutions and further expand the existing collaboration in the electric vehicle (EV) space.
The charging stations will be located in metro cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. The partnership also includes offering exclusive charging tariffs for Tata Motors' electric CV owners, potentially reducing operating costs and boosting profitability for businesses that adopt electric vehicles.
This partnership between Tata Motors and Tata Power aims to strengthen India's EV ecosystem, focusing on infrastructure for commercial vehicles. By making nearly 1,000 fast chargers available across the country, including the new 200 stations from this collaboration, the companies are set to address one of the critical challenges for commercial EV adoption: accessible charging infrastructure.
Vinay Pathak, Vice President & Business Head – SCV&PU, Tata Motors, said, “We have endeavoured to not only engineer and manufacture world-class electric vehicles, but also help develop the necessary ecosystem to democratize the use of these eco-friendly and emission-free vehicles. This partnership will also explore avenues to maximize the use of renewable energy to make electric vehicle operations greener.”
An important element of this initiative is the introduction of exclusive tariffs for Tata Motors' electric commercial vehicle customers. These lower rates aim to provide cost-effective charging solutions for businesses, further incentivizing the transition from conventional to electric vehicles. By lowering operating costs through competitive charging prices, this initiative seeks to make electric CVs a financially viable option for logistics, delivery, and other commercial applications.
Deepesh Nanda, CEO & MD, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited said, “Already present across diverse segments such as public, semi-public, bus/fleet, and home chargers, we are expanding to the commercial vehicle charging segment, delivering integrated EV charging solutions. This collaboration underlines our commitment to accelerating e-mobility by providing an expansive and reliable EV Charging network across India.”
Tata Power has significantly grown its EV charging network under its “EZ Charge” brand, with over 100,000 home chargers, 5,500+ public, semi-public, and fleet charging points, and more than 1,100 bus charging stations across 530 cities and towns. The company has deployed chargers in easily accessible locations like highways, hotels, malls, hospitals, and residential complexes. This widespread network is instrumental in supporting the growing demand for electric mobility across various vehicle segments.
