Tesla is stepping up its efforts to attract a wider customer base to its showrooms in India. The American EV maker has rolled out the first set of benefits for the Model Y ever since it was first launched in India in May last year. Called the “Switch & Save Program”, this new scheme offers benefits worth up to ₹ 3 lakh on purchase of Model Y.
Under this programme, prospective buyers will be offered an exchange incentive worth ₹ 3 lakh on switching from the petrol and diesel cars to EV. Tesla Model Y can now be purchased at a monthly installment starting from ₹49,000 with a down payment of just ₹6,00,000, significantly lowering the barrier to entry for premium electric vehicles. The monthly EMI and down payment are based on a 7-year tenure and 8.5 percent APR under a step-up EMI plan.
According to Tesla, buyers of Model Y can achieve savings of up to ₹20,000 per month through reduced fuel and maintenance costs, highlighting the long-term cost benefits and lower total cost of ownership of EVs. It also gives mid-segment SUV and sedan owners the opportunity to upgrade to Tesla with an effective ownership cost starting at ₹29,000 per month.

To enhance ownership convenience, Tesla Model Y is available in India with a complimentary wall box charger making the cost of charging at home as low as ₹1 per km. Interested buyers can book the Model Y through Tesla’s official India website. Test drives for the Model Y are available at Tesla Experience Centers in Mumbai, Delhi and Gurugram.

Tesla offers the Model Y in two variants — Standard and Long Range — both powered by a rear-wheel driven electric motor. The former gets a 60 kWh battery pack whereas the latter comes with a larger 75 kWh battery offering a range of 500 km and 661 km, respectively, on a full charge. The standard variant can clock zero to 100 kmph in 5.9 seconds. On the other hand, the long range variant can achieve the same in just 5.3 seconds.
Both versions can clock a top speed of 201 kmph. According to the company, fast charging can add approximately 238 km of range to the standard variant and around 267 km to the Long Range version in just 15 minutes.
