Toyota's first half of the financial year (April-September 2025) demonstrated remarkable consistency with 184,959 units sold, representing a healthy 14% growth over the corresponding period in 2024
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) recorded impressive sales of 31,091 units in September 2025, marking a significant 16% year-on-year growth compared to 26,847 units sold in September 2024. The Japanese automaker's strong performance reflects growing consumer confidence during the festive season and benefits from recent GST reforms.
The September figures represent a mixed month-on-month performance when compared to TKM's recent quarterly results. Toyota sold 34,236 units in August 2025, indicating a 9.2% decline from the previous month. However, the September numbers showed improvement over July 2025's 32,575 units and June 2025's 28,869 units.

Breaking down the September sales, Toyota achieved 27,089 domestic sales whilst exporting 4,002 units. The export segment showed particularly robust growth, contributing significantly to the overall performance.
Toyota's first half of the financial year (April-September 2025) demonstrated remarkable consistency with 184,959 units sold, representing a healthy 14% growth over the corresponding period in 2024 when the company sold 162,623 units. This sustained growth trajectory underscores the brand's strong market positioning across its diverse portfolio.
The company's performance during June-September 2025 period showed gradual acceleration. Starting with 28,869 units in June (5% YoY growth), sales climbed to 32,575 units in July (3% YoY growth), peaked at 34,236 units in August (11% YoY growth), before settling at 31,091 units in September with the strongest YoY growth of 16%.
Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President of Sales-Service-Used Car Business at TKM, attributed the positive September performance to landmark GST reforms and festive season momentum. "Thanks to the landmark GST reforms by the Government of India and the onset of the festive season, market sentiments have been upbeat," Wadhwa stated.
The company has passed on full GST benefits to customers, which has further boosted demand across Toyota's portfolio. This strategic pricing adjustment comes at a crucial time as the automotive industry prepares for the traditionally strong festive quarter.
September marked significant product developments for Toyota, including the introduction of the enhanced Rumion with six airbags as standard across all variants. The company also announced its association with Japan's internationally acclaimed performance group, DRUM TAO, as brand ambassadors, reinforcing its commitment to premium positioning.
Throughout the June-September period, Toyota introduced several key enhancements. June saw the launch of Fortuner and Legender in their Neo Drive avatars with advanced 48-volt systems. July featured limited edition prestige packages for Glanza and Urban Cruiser Hyryder, whilst August witnessed the introduction of a new Bluish Black exterior colour for the Urban Cruiser and the launch of the Camry Hybrid Electric Vehicle Sprint Edition.
With Toyota's production capacity of up to 342,000 units annually across its two plants in Bidadi, the company appears well-positioned to meet growing demand. The manufacturer's focus on timely deliveries during the festive season and continued innovation in safety features positions it favourably for the remainder of the financial year.
The September performance, whilst showing a month-on-month decline from August's peak, maintains Toyota's strong growth momentum with double-digit year-on-year increases. This sustained performance across diverse market conditions demonstrates the resilience of Toyota's strategy in the competitive Indian automotive market.
