The additional capacity at Bidadi was initially expected to become operational in 2026 but has now been deferred to early 2027.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) plans to increase production at its Bidadi manufacturing facility in Karnataka from early 2027 as it seeks to bring down waiting periods for select models and prepare for upcoming product launches, according to a PTI. The automaker currently operates two plants at Bidadi, with a combined annual production capacity of 3.42 lakh units.

A third plant at the site will add another 1 lakh units of annual capacity and is expected to manufacture multiple models, including the Innova HyCross multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).

“We are working to increase production,” Sabari Manohar, executive vice-president for sales, service and used car business at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, was quoted as saying by PTI.

Manohar said the company was working to increase output model by model to reduce customer waiting periods. The additional capacity at Bidadi was initially expected to become operational in 2026 but has now been deferred to early 2027.

Separately, Toyota Kirloskar Motor is setting up a manufacturing facility in the Bidkin Industrial Area of Maharashtra, with an annual production capacity of 1 lakh units. The plant is expected to begin operations in the first half of 2029.

The planned facilities at Bidadi and Bidkin will add to the company's manufacturing capacity, with the two projects following different timelines.

The company was monitoring changes in raw material and component costs while assessing whether to increase vehicle prices. Manohar noted that rising input costs could necessitate passing on some of the additional burden to customers. However, the company would assess the timing and extent of any increase before making a decision.
