The 2025 Fortuner Leader Edition features a refreshed exterior design with a new grille, front and rear bumper spoilers, dual-tone black roof, and glossy black alloy wheels. Interior upgrades include dual-tone black and maroon seats, auto-folding mirrors, illuminated scuff plates, and an advanced Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Powered by Toyota's 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine, the Leader Edition delivers 201 bhp and 500 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. The rear-wheel-drive configuration ensures optimal balance between performance and fuel efficiency.

The Fortuner faces competition from several rivals in the premium SUV segment. Key competitors include:

  • MG Gloster (₹38.33 - ₹43.17 lakh)
  • Jeep Meridian (₹17.73 - ₹30.25 lakh)
  • Skoda Kodiaq (₹39.99 lakh onwards)
  • Mahindra Scorpio-N (₹13.20 - ₹24.17 lakh)

Despite the competitive landscape, the Fortuner maintains its leadership position, outselling not just individual rivals but even combined sales of multiple competitors.

The Fortuner has demonstrated remarkable sales consistency throughout 2024 and 2025. In 2024, Toyota achieved its highest-ever annual sales of 3,26,329 units, representing a 40% growth compared to 2023. The Fortuner played a crucial role in this success.

  • February 2025: 2,876 units
  • March 2025: 3,392 units (+17.9% MoM)
  • April 2025: 2,904 units (-14.4% MoM)

The cumulative Fortuner and Legender sales crossed 3 lakh units in May 2025, a significant milestone achieved since the Fortuner's debut in 2009.
