The limited-edition styling package, priced at ₹31,999, adds blacked-out trim across select variants of Toyota's best-selling B-SUV.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has introduced the Urban Cruiser Hyryder Aero Black Edition, a limited-run styling package priced at ₹31,999 and aimed at buyers seeking a sportier, more distinctive look for the automaker's B-SUV. The package is available on the Midnight Black G and V grades, across both Neo Drive and Strong Hybrid powertrains, and will be sold until stocks last.

The Aero Black Edition adds a set of blacked-out exterior elements rather than any mechanical changes: a front grille upper garnish, front spoiler, headlamp garnish, tailgate garnish, and rear spoiler, along with an exclusive Aero Black badge. Toyota is also offering an "All Black Package" through dealers as a further customisation option, at extra cost.

The update comes at a point when the Hyryder has become one of Toyota's steadier performers in India. Launched in 2022, the SUV has crossed cumulative sales of 2 lakh units, establishing itself in the B-SUV segment which includes rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos. Cosmetic editions of this kind are a familiar tactic in this segment, allowing manufacturers to refresh a model's appeal and sustain showroom footfall between full facelifts, without the cost of engineering changes.

Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President for Sales, Service, Used Car Business and Profit Enhancement at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said the Hyryder "continues to appeal to modern SUV buyers with its stylish design, advanced technology, and enhanced comfort," adding that the new edition was intended to offer "a more expressive and youthful design identity that resonates with evolving customer aspirations."

Mechanically, the Hyryder remains unchanged. It is sold with two powertrain options: a self-charging strong hybrid system paired with an e-drive transmission, rated at 27.97 km/l, and a Neo Drive variant built around a 1.5-litre K-series petrol engine offered with manual or automatic transmissions and a choice of 2WD or 4WD. The hybrid's fuel efficiency figure has been one of its key selling points in a market where rising fuel costs continue to push buyers towards electrified options.

Standard equipment across the range includes a panoramic sunroof, ventilated leather seats, a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, and 360-degree cameras. Toyota backs the vehicle with a warranty of three years or 100,000 km, extendable to five years or 220,000 km, alongside an eight-year or 160,000 km warranty on the hybrid system.

The Aero Black Edition is unlikely to move overall Hyryder volumes significantly on its own, but it reflects a broader pattern among Indian carmakers of using limited styling packages to keep established nameplates visible in a competitive segment, particularly as hybrid technology continues to gain traction among buyers weighing running costs against upfront price.
