The Taisor is essentially a rebadged version of the Fronx but has a few things that set it apart from its Maruti twin.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) launched the much-awaited Urban Cruiser Taisor in India this month, as a rebadged version of the Fronx but has a few things that set it apart from its Maruti Suzuki twin. There’s not much difference between the two and it mostly boils down to a slightly differentiated design, price and standard warranty.
While both subcompact SUVs look largely similar, the Taisor features a very Toyota-esque fascia. The Taisor gets a wide grille, similar to the one seen on the Rumion and the Innova Hycross. On the other hand, the Fronx has a much narrower grille than the Taisor but runs deeper into the front bumper. The Taisor also gets two horizontal LED DRLs, while the Fronx gets Maruti Suzuki’s signature triple block design for the DRLs.
Apart from the difference in the design of the 16-inch alloy wheels, there’s no difference between the Taisor and the Fronx. Moving to the back, the similarities between the two subcompact SUVs continue and the only difference is the lighting elements in the taillamps. While the Fronx gets Maruti Suzuki’s triple block design, the Taisor has rectangular lighting elements instead, apart from the obvious differences in the badges.
The Taisor is available in five single-tone and three dual-tone colour options, while the Fronx gets seven single-tone colours and three dual-tone colours. Toyota is offering Lucent Orange, Sportin Red, Cafe White, Enticing Silver and Gaming Grey single-tone colour options, with the Red, Silver and White getting a black roof. Maruti Suzuki gets Nexa Blue, Arctic White, Splendid Silver, Grandeur Grey, Earthen Brown, Opulent Red and Bluish Black, with Brown, Red and Silver getting a Black roof.

Interestingly, there’s no difference between the Taisor and Fronx inside the cabin. Both get a Black and Maroon interior theme; the only difference is the badge on the steering wheel. Both get the same set of features and feature division across the variant line-up. The top-spec Taisor gets features like a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera, six airbags, a head-up display, a wireless charger, paddle shifters for the automatic gearbox versions, and a lot more.
Under the hood, the Taisor and Fronx get the same engine options. The entry-level engine is the 1.2-litre unit that produces 89 bhp and 113 Nm and comes mated to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. This engine also gets the option of a factory-fitted CNG kit and produces 76 bhp and 98.5 Nm in CNG mode. The other engine on offer is the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that churns out 99 bhp and 148 Nm and comes paired with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
Prices for the Fronx start at ₹7.52 lakh and go up to ₹12.88 lakh (ex-showroom, India), while the Taisor is priced between ₹7.74 and 12.88 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Interestingly, there is no difference in the prices of the top-spec variant of the two SUVs, but the base variant of the Taisor is ₹22,000 dearer than the equivalent Fronx variant. There is a difference of up to ₹25,000 between Taisor and the Fronx, depending on the variant. Notably, the Fronx gets two additional variants – Delta MT CNG and Delta+ Turbo MT – which aren’t available on the Taisor.
