Building upon Toyota's design ethos while incorporating elements from the Glanza and Urban Cruiser Hyryder, the Urban Cruiser Taisor's design is distinct. Highlighted by sleek DRLs reminiscent of the Urban Cruiser, coupled with Toyota's signature grille and bumper to give it a unique identity. While the connected taillight inherited from the Fronx is a welcome addition, offering a touch of sophistication.
Under the hood, the Urban Cruiser Taisor gets the benefit of two engine options - there's the 98 bhp, 148Nm, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, paired with a 6-speed torque converter automatic with paddle shifters and 5-speed manual gearbox options. There's also the naturally aspirated 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine, delivering 89 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. Buyers have the option of a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT.
The inclusion of features like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a head-up display, and a 360-degree camera, among others, enhances the driving experience, making it a compelling choice in its segment.
Toyota aims to position the Urban Cruiser Taisor strategically, offering it at price points and variant segments distinct from the Fronx. With a wider range of colours and interior palettes, the Urban Cruiser Taisor aims to cater to diverse preferences.
Competing against models like the Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, and entry variants of Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue, the Urban Cruiser Taisor's combination of feature set, and the trust associated with the Toyota brand promises to shake up the subcompact SUV market. The Taisor can be booked by paying a token amount of ₹11,000 and Toyota says the deliveries will begin in May.
