The Scrambler 400 XC joins the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X in Triumph’s entry-level lineup.
Triumph Motorcycles has expanded its 400 cc Modern Classic range in India with the launch of the new Scrambler 400 XC at ₹ 2,94,147 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Scrambler 400 XC joins the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X in Triumph’s entry-level lineup.
True to its scrambler roots, the Scrambler 400 XC features a robust design language, highlighted by a sculpted fuel tank, upswept exhaust, and high-set front mudguard. The motorcycle uses cross-spoked tubeless wheels, with a larger 19-inch front wheel fitted with tubeless dual-purpose tyres, reinforcing its all-terrain capabilities. Protective features such as handguards, a windscreen, engine crash bars, and an aluminium sump guard equip the bike for rugged environments. Available in three colour options—Racing Yellow, Storm Grey, and Vanilla White—the Scrambler 400 XC carries Triumph's signature style with the new-age Scrambler badging.
At the core of the Scrambler 400 XC is Triumph’s TR-series engine, a 398 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled powerplant developed in-house. This engine, shared with the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, delivers approximately 39.4 bhp and 37.5 Nm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch for smoother shifting and reduced lever effort.
Riders can expect a modern electronics suite integrated into the bike without compromising its retro appeal. Key features include switchable traction control, ride-by-wire throttle, and dual-channel ABS with a dedicated off-road mode, enhancing control across varied terrain. The high-spec suspension setup—featuring long-travel upside-down front forks and a mono—shock rear—is tuned to deliver confident handling and comfort. The Triumph Scrambler 400 XC rivals the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the KTM 390 Adventure X.
