Triumph Motorcycles. recently hinted at the launch of the new Speed Twin 1200 RS by releasing teaser images through its social media handles. This upcoming model is an enhanced version of the existing Speed Twin 1200, which is currently available in India at ₹11.09 lakh (ex-showroom).
The teaser images reveal some key features of the new Speed Twin 1200 RS. For starters, it sports a striking orange colour scheme with black and white stripes on the bottom of the fuel tank. The 'RS' designation is prominently displayed on the lower left side of the tank, distinguishing it from the standard model.
While full details are yet to be confirmed, the Speed Twin 1200 RS is expected to offer improved performance. So, the 1200 cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine will remain the same. However, its power may increase from the current 98.6 bhp output as seen with the Speed Twin 1200, but the torque output of 112 Nm is likely to remain the same. Beyond that, the six-speed gearbox will be available as it is, along with a slipper-assist clutch, and quickshifter as well.
The bike's frame will remain the same tubular steel cradle, but suspension upgrades are anticipated. These may include a fully adjustable gold-coloured Showa upside-down fork at the front and Ohlins shock absorbers at the rear. For braking, the RS model is expected to feature twin discs with Brembo M50 Monobloc calipers at the front and a single disc at the rear.
Pricing for the new Speed Twin 1200 RS is estimated to be between ₹12 lakh and ₹13 lakh (ex-showroom), compared to the current Speed Twin 1200's price. Triumph is expected to launch this new model soon, and it should offer bike enthusiasts with a nice performance-oriented roadster alternative in a sea of naked sport and fully-faired sport bikes.
