Both the legacy manufacturers have been dominating electric two-wheeler space
The combined sales of TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak electric scooters are well on their way to crossing the 1 million or 10 lakh unit sales mark since their launch in January 2020. Moreover, both these electric scooters have also significantly contributed to India's electric two-wheeler market growth, accounting for 31 per cent of the 3.19 million units sold between 2020 and mid-April 2025.
As per the Society of Indian Manufacturers Association’s (SIAM) wholesale data, both the Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube have recorded combined sales of 9,93,298 units through March 2025. While this is just 6,702 units short of the million mark. Given the strong sales performance, both are raking in every month, this gap would have been closed within the first few days of April 2025 itself.

TVS iQube dominated the sales figures with 5,71,509 units, representing 57 per cent of its combined total. The Bajaj Chetak accounts for the remaining 43 per cent with 4,21,789 units. TVS maintains a cumulative lead of 1,49,720 units, largely due to the fact that the Chetak didn’t qualify for the government subsidies when it was launched and also the dealership network was poor.
However, the gap between the two manufacturers has narrowed considerably in recent years. In FY 2024, TVS sold 1,89,896 iQubes compared to Bajaj's 1,15,702 Chetaks. FY2025 proved to be exceptional for both companies, with each surpassing the 2 lakh unit milestone for the first time. TVS recorded 2,73,063 units (up 44 per cent), while Bajaj Auto dispatched 2,60,033 units (up by 125 per cent), reducing the sales difference to just 13,030 units. This achievement comes appropriately on Earth Day 2025, highlighting the growing importance of electric mobility in India's transport sector.
