India’s TVS Motor Company has launched new three-wheeled commercial people carriers in Ghana, one of the 90+ countries in which it has a presence. The new TVS King Deluxe Plus and King Deluxe Plus XL feature upgrades for range, convenience and comfort. The company hopes to strengthen its value proposition in what it sees as a key West African market.
The two new commercial vehicles are equipped with higher-capacity 10 litre fuel tanks, letting drivers and passengers cover greater distances between refuelling stops. They also now have tubeless tyres, bigger 100 litre utility boxes, and large foldable mirrors. Both models have the same 200cc air-cooled engine.
TVS says the King Deluxe Plus XL has the widest passenger cabin in its class at 1,405mm, for improved comfort. Both models are aimed at improving public transportation in urban and semi-urban markets. Both models are also said to be agile and easily manoeuvrable.
Safety is also addressed with a stronger chassis, heavy-duty B and C pillars, a thick canopy roof, and longer steering column. TVS says it has also designed an “SUV-like” front grille to keep up with current trends. Design improvements also include gold-coloured wheel rims and brighter lights.
Rahul Nayak, Senior Vice President – International Business, TVS Motor Company, said in a press statement: “Ghana is a high-potential market in West Africa, and we are pleased to introduce our most advanced three-wheelers here. These vehicles are built to meet the growing demand for reliable, efficient, and comfortable last-mile mobility.”
The company has 75 dealers and over 200 service centres in Ghana, through its partnership with local distributor Arash Motors.
