The TVS M1-S is not based on the TVS X and it's a completely different product that will not come to India.
While TVS has been dominating the EV sales charge in India, it’s yet to solidify its presence in global electric two-wheeler markets. As part of that endeavour, the brand is expanding its portfolio in Indonesia with a new maxi-styled electric scooter called M1-S. It is built on a completely different platform and has no inkling whatsoever with the TVS X.
The TVS M1-S looks quite futuristic and aggressive at the same time with lots of cuts and creases in its body design, especially at the front. In fact, the fascia has a distinct Ducati Panigale-ish (previous iteration) and Italjet Dragster vibe going for it, but beyond that, the rear section of the scooter looks very simple, and does not have that same aggressive tone. It rides on 14-inch alloy wheels, and it is suspended by telescopic fork and twin-shock absorber with preload adjustability.

From a performance point of view, the TVS M1-S is powered by a 4.3 kWh battery that is good for 150 km of range on a single charge. The battery takes 3 hours to charge from 0-100% via the built-in onboard charger. The battery comes paired to a 12.5 kW electric motor that produces 254 Nm of peak torque at the wheel, which is good enough for a 0-50 kmph acceleration in 3.7 seconds, and the TVS electric scooter can reach a top speed of 105 kmph. To extrapolate this performance in varied degrees, there are different ride modes on offer here too, including a dedicated reverse mode as well.
But the TVS M1-S is not all about performance and it is quite the practical option too with a sizable 26-litre of underseat storage space. Feature-wise, the TVS M1-S gets a 7-inch TFT screen that is Bluetooth compatible and thereby gets you all the connectivity features. Lastly, LED headlight and tail light are available as standard.
The TVS M1-S teased is the same as the Ion Mobility M1-S. TVS had invested in the South-East Asian company in 2023 as part of its “Reimagine 2030” vision and had integrated this start up along with its assets, IP and core team into its operations. But later earlier this year, TVS had divested its stake in Ion Mobility wherein the brand exchanged its equity in Ion Mobility for ₹14.97 crore. However, the Hosur-based manufacturer did not state any reason for doing so. So we are not sure as to what happened here, but the fact that TVS has listed the M1-S on its website is a clear indication that it retained the IP rights to the maxi-styled electric scooter and now will be retailed in Indonesia under the TVS badge. With the TVS X already being on sale and not finding many takers, the possibility of the M1-S electric scooter coming to India is very bleak.
