TVS plans annual two-wheeler capacity scaling to 8.3 million units (from 6.8 million) by Q4 FY27, with monthly EV capacity expanding to 80,000 units.

TVS Motor Company has outlined plans to scale its annual two-wheeler manufacturing capacity to 8.3 million units from the existing 6.8 million units by the fourth quarter of FY27. Simultaneously, the Chennai-based vehicle manufacturer is ramping up its monthly electric two-wheeler production capacity to approximately 80,000 units.

Currently operating at a monthly EV volume of 60,000 to 65,000 units across domestic and export markets, the company has already initiated the next phase of its capacity expansion to meet sustained market demand.

The manufacturing expansion forms part of a broader capital expenditure program of approximately ₹3,500 crore previously announced by TVS Motor Company. Beside two-wheelers, the automaker is expanding its three-wheeler production capacity toward four lakh units annually to support robust domestic and overseas demand.

The capacity enhancement follows a record operational performance in Q2 FY27, where total vehicle sales rose 27% year-on-year to 19.19 lakh units, driven by strong domestic consumption and expanding international shipments across Africa, Latin America, and Asia.

Electric vehicle adoption has served as a primary growth driver for the brand, with electric two-wheeler sales surging 133% year-on-year to 1,86,186 units during Q2 FY27. To capitalise on this demand, TVS is accelerating the production and distribution of its Orbiter electric scooter alongside the family-focused iQube.

Management highlighted that rural EV demand grew slightly faster than urban adoption during the first half of the fiscal year, signalling expanding acceptance outside Tier-1 cities alongside growing EV export volumes.
