This achievement comes amidst weakening demand.
The TVS Ntorq 125 has hit the 2 million sales milestone in FY26, following May 2025 deliveries of 25,205 units. However, the achievement comes amid signs of weakening demand for the popular scooter.
TVS had already signalled that this milestone was approaching after announcing 1.88 million cumulative sales at the end of FY25. While May's figures represent a 14.63% year-on-year drop, the broader picture remains positive with 3,34,414 units sold throughout FY25 across India.
TVS needed 51 months to reach the first million units, but accelerated to achieve the second million in just 36 months—clear evidence of the Ntorq's growing market acceptance. Yet, the scooter now faces serious competition from an unexpected source: its own stablemate. The TVS iQube electric scooter has outsold the petrol-powered Ntorq for six straight months, reflecting the market's shift towards electric mobility with better features and lower running costs. This internal rivalry highlights changing consumer priorities, with practicality trumping the sporty appeal that made the Ntorq successful.
Despite this challenge, TVS isn't abandoning its performance-focused approach, and the company's response appears to be expansion rather than retreat. Reports suggest TVS is developing the Ntorq 150, targeting the emerging 150cc sporty scooter segment. This category, long dominated by Aprilia and Yamaha's Aerox 155, gained fresh momentum when Hero launched the Xoom 160 in 2025.
Whether TVS can replicate the Ntorq 125's mainstream success in the 150 cc space—transforming another niche segment into a popular category—will test the brand's market influence once again.
